Thankful for All This Stuff
What am I most thankful for this Thanksgiving? Well thats tough. I have a great family a great job and I get to share lots of cello knowledge with all of you out there. There is a lot to be thankful for. Truly, I am thankful for this medium this year, this technology that connects us. It can get a bad wrap you know. Social media, the internet, so much information coming at you all the time, its a major distraction at times. Its too bad that its so hard to filter out the good stuff from the bad and we end up throwing the baby out with the bath water a lot when it comes to tech and being online. It is so powerful!! I remember growing up with none of this. I didn’t even have a metronome in my house. I know… me… the thing I preach over and over again. I don’t remember using one much in high school. We didn’t have phones and computers and devices everywhere and there was no Amazon to just pop onto and get one. You had to go tot he music shop, that is if you could afford it and your parents had time to take you there. Getting a metronome used to be a whole thing, a planned experience. Now you dial them up for free. My favorite at the moment is www.theonlinemetronome.com And speaking of that site they have really expanded to included so many resources. I didn’t know! You see, there is so much good stuff out there and this really is what I am thankful for. That we can share this stuff with each other that you can grow as a musician and I can grow as a teacher and musician as we go along on this musical cello journey together. Thank you so much for reading and watching and learning with me and here’s to many more.
